Financial Aid

To be eligible for financial aid you will need to fill out the FAFSA (free application for federal student aid). FAFSA Website

The student and a parent/guardian must have an FSA ID account to fill out the form. Accounts can be made here.

uAspire has some great resources explaining the different steps of the FAFSA process, available in many languages too.

The state recently passed the Tuition Equity Bill, opening up a pathway for those ineligible for federal aid through the FAFSA to receive state aid by filling out the MASFA form. Must have attended high school in MA for three years to be eligible. See here for more info and application.

Tutoring/Academic Support

All colleges offer tutoring for support with homework, papers, projects, preparing for exams, and developing study skills. If you are struggling or have a question, don't hesitate to use your school's tutoring resources.

Professors also offer office hours, times they set aside to be available to answer your questions and support you with your work. Office hours should be listed on your syllabus, or you can ask the professor directly.

At BHCC, there is the Tutoring and Academic Support Center (TASC) for general needs. There is also The Writing Place for support with all stages of the writing process, the MathSpace for math help, and the Language Lab that supports ELL students.

At UMB, the Center for Academic Excellence offers tutoring sessions for all classes. Appointments can be made here.

If you attend another institution and you need academic support, contact Kai, and he will help you find the resources you need!

If you have taken early college classes, make sure you transfer your credits to your college. You do not want to waste time and money taking classes for which you already have credit. Note: Some colleges/programs may not accept your credits, they each have their own rules

Credit transfer can be done on the National Clearinghouse website. If you need to transfer credits from BHCC, click here.
